Weekend Rewind: Hidden gems in Biloxi

This last trip to Biloxi was THE BEST by far. It was only my third trip, but it was sooo much fun! I'm going to show more and tell less so I can fit some really awesome pictures in this post.

Biloxi is really growing on me. Honestly, I was not too keen on the area when we made the decision that Kyle would accept a job there and we would live apart for the next year, but I thought to myself it's only temporary so find the best in it to make it bearable.

Kyle and I both got to explore a lot more this trip and found some absolute gems hidden in the crevices and on the corners of its old streets. So, if you are thinking about making a trip to the coast you have to swing through Biloxi!

There's a lot more to Biloxi's night life then the smoky nasty casinos. Friday night we went to the Fillin' Station. Gas station turned hip and fun bar and grille. They serve delicious food til late and it is such a neat atmosphere.

Saturday morning Kyle and I ate donuts at a local place and then we picked up some cheese from this gourmet cheese shop in Ocean Springs. That's right, I said gourmet cheese shop in this tiny little town! Epicure.

The only remaining reason I can't convert to vegan - that's cheese folks and particularly fine artisan crafted cheeses.

This place was simply remarkable.

The owner, Steve, was very nice and helpful and he let us try samples of whatever we wanted. We left with a layered Huntsman Wisconsin cheddar and blue cheese, a white manchego and my personal fav, a five-year-aged gouda! Along with some duck fois gras pate. It was all DELICIOUS!

After the cheese shop, we went to a local retail seafood market and Kyle bought some flounder and crab meat to stuff inside with some other goodies. While purchasing our fish the fisherman told us about this wonderful bakery down the road (don't ya just love that folks? One small business owner recommending another). My eyes widened with excitement and off to the bakery we went!

This was the type of place that one would only know about through word of mouth. It's sorta in a sketch part of a neighborhood, several blocks off casino rowe.

Do you see the loaf of bread in the shape of a fish??!!

Saturday night Kyle and I ate at this new restaurant in Ocean Springs that just opened a couple of months ago. Cambios is DIVINE. Seriously, as I've said before, Kyle and I enjoy eating at fine dining restaurants and we've been to our fair share of them all along the Gulf Coast from Florida to Louisiana and this ranks right up there in my top 5. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone even if you live a ways away and just drove in for dinner and drove back home. It is THAT good. I wish I had photos to show you but my phone died :(.

Sunday morning Kyle fixed french toast with half of the baguette and freshly sliced strawberries and then we went to the beach and then hung out by the pool afterward while we fixed dinner.

Here's how the crab meat and French baguette-stuffed flounder turned out.

And, for the grand finale, Kyle bought me a new car! A 2012 Camry. Well folks, that's it. So, after my third trip, I bring you more reasons than I thought I'd find myself to visit the Biloxi area. Let me know if you have questions.
